Security agents comb the forests for the kidnapped president of Ekiti APC

Security forces, including Amotekun's corps and local hunters, in Ekiti State have launched a search operation in the forests to locate the kidnapped state chairman of the All Progressives Congress ( APC), Paul Omotosho.

Omotosho was abducted on Saturday evening by gunmen while driving to his hometown of Imesi-Ekiti along the Agbado-Ekiti - Imesi-Ekiti road in the local government area from Gbonyin of the State.

A family source told the Nigerian Tribune that they are still awaiting a call from the kidnappers, possibly demanding a ransom, as no communication has been received since Saturday's kidnapping.

Efforts to locate the APC President through a joint team of security agents combing nearby bushes and forests have so far been unsuccessful.

The source said: "We are still in a very difficult situation since our man was kidnapped, as we have not received any calls from the kidnappers since Saturday evening. Security agencies, including our local people, have been looking for him in the bush, but no progress has yet been made on his whereabouts."

In response to the incident, Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji called on security agencies to do their utmost to ensure the safe release of the party chairman. The governor stressed that not only must Omotosho be saved unscathed, but the perpetrators must also be apprehended and face the full weight of the law.

Representing the Governor, Deputy Chief Monisade Afuye visited Omotosho's family in Imesi Ekiti to express his sympathy for the devastating incident. Governor Oyebanji also visited the Onimesi of Imesi Ekiti, Oba Olatunji Olatunde, to express his displeasure at this disturbing incident.

Governor Oyebanji has instructed police and DSS officers to conduct a thorough search of the sprawling forests along Agbado-Imesi-Irun Akoko in Ondo State and other suspect areas to rescue in safely the victims of their captors.

The governor described the incident as disturbing and disturbing, promising his government would step up efforts to crack down on those who occasionally terrorize Ekiti with senseless kidnappings.

As part of efforts to eliminate kidnappings in the region, Governor Oyebanji assured that the state forest reserves stretching from Agbado-Imesi-Ise would be revitalized and used to root out criminals using the area as a hiding place.
