Shehu Yar'Adua Foundation appoints new CEO

The Shehu Musa Yar'Adua Foundation Board of Trustees has appointed Polly Alakija as Chief Executive Officer, effective August 1, 2022.

Polly is an experienced board-level executive with a demonstrable track record of strong project management and leadership skills.

The press release is reproduced below:

She has served as an advisor to the Aliko Dangote Foundation, served as chairperson of the Lagos State Council for Arts and Culture, and founder of the Five Cowries arts education initiative. She is also a trustee of the JRandle Center of Yoruba Culture Lagos, a board member of the Alliance Française de Lagos, and sits on the Mayor of London's (Sadiq Khan) Transitional Advisory Council World City Culture Forum.

It has been a sincere pleasure to have served the Yar'Adua Foundation since the organization was established in 1998.

I have also been privileged to have led a team of committed and passionate staff to support the legacy of one of the s great contemporaries of Nigeria s leader and inspire future generations with his life of service.

After almost twenty-five years, I will be retiring as Chief Executive Officer but will remain an active member of the Board of Directors where I will continue to support the Foundation in its mission to promote national unity, good governance and social justice in Nigeria.
