So-Safe arrests 12 illegal miners in Ogun
Officers from the Ogun State-owned security agency, So-Safe Corps, arrested 12 illegal miners in Ogun East.
DAILY POST has learned that the 12 suspects were apprehended between September 28 and 30, "while stealing state government resources".
So-Safe Corps spokesperson Moruf Yusuf told our correspondent that the illegal miners were being held in Abeku Adekanmbi village in Ijebu North Local Government Area in Ogun.
Yusuf revealed that the 12 were apprehended "while stealing mineral resources like coal and gold underground".
According to him, the commander of So-Safe, Soji Ganzallo, had immediately ordered that the preliminary investigation reports of the suspects be forwarded to the headquarters of the State Corps in Abeokuta.
Ganzallo had also ordered that other accomplices who escaped on motorcycles be brought in to book.
The suspects have since been transferred to Ijebu Igbo Divisional Police Headquarters for further investigation and likely prosecution, Yusuf said.
