Sokoto Gov assures corps members adequate security

The Governor of Sokoto State, Dr. Ahmed Aliyu, ensured Corps members serving in the state with adequate security throughout their year of service.

The Governor said this Friday at the NYSC's permanent Wamakko Orientation Camp during the swearing in of Batch 2023 "B" stream 1.

"Allow me to reiterate our administration's commitment to prioritizing the safety of Corps members assigned to the state," he said.

He explained that his government will continue to leverage state resources to provide maximum support for NYSC program programs in the state and the country at large.

However, he enjoined the members of the State Corps to imbibe the spirit of discipline and tolerance to enable them to participate in all camp activities, thus forming a solid foundation for the year service.

He urged them to uphold the purpose of NYSC, which includes integrity, patriotism, promoting unity, discipline, selflessness, reliability, and team spirit at all times .

Aliyu said that as part of his administration's efforts to empower the state's large youth, the state government will partner with NYSC's Skills and Entrepreneurship Development Program (SAED) for autonomy.

The Governor further directed Corps members to be good ambassadors for their communities and the project.

The governor has donated four thousand naira (N4000) to each member of the corps taking part in the orientation exercise in the state.

Earlier, NYSC In-State Coordinator Mr. Usman Yakubu Yaro (YY) congratulated the Governor on his election victory.

He thanked the governor for donating four thousand naira to each corps member in the camp, saying the gesture would go a long way in improving the lot of the corps members.

The coordinator implored corps members to be disciplined and diligent, stressing that camp activities are regimental.

He instructed them to participate in all camp activities saying that misconduct and absenteeism will not be tolerated.

The coordinator thanked the military, paramilitary, Sultan of Sokoto Alhaji Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar and other state stakeholders for their continued support of the program.

The Chief Justice of Sokoto State, Justice Muhammad Sa'idu Sifawa, represented by Justice Abubakar Abubakar Zaki, took the oath of allegiance to the members of the corps.
