Sunday with Jack Dee: "I garden, that is to say outside the household"

Rising early or sleeping in? Now that our kids are grown, I never fail to enjoy a lazy morning. I drink a lot of tea, read the newspapers and chat with my wife, Jane. That's great.

Sunday breakfast? Jane had some egg white omelets, so I'm using the excess yolks to make extra rich scrambled eggs.

Sunday morning? We'll be on Wandsworth Common walking the dog. I say on foot… We have a Chihuahua, Dolly, who prefers backpacking, so it's more of a carry.

See you on Sunday? Our two daughters live there, our two sons a little further, but we manage to meet once a month.

DIY in the kitchen? I prefer to cook outside in my clay oven barbecue. I cooked the Christmas turkey there.

Sundays growing up? Very traditional: Sunday school until we didn't want to go anymore. Seconds at Sunday lunch were bread and gravy. Leftover meat was used during the week.

Sunday cleaning? I garden, that is to say apart from housework. Every spring the gas mower won't start so I have a battery powered one but now it doesn't work. You have to book now which is a bit pathetic - my rubbish doesn't have VIP access. Even then, a tipping trip is therapeutic.

Sunday chill? We try not to watch TV before 6 p.m., because I never grew up. Last Sunday we played Scrabble. I also like to do crosswords.

Monday Terror? If I have to take a long trip, I will go to bed with a heavy heart. Previously, I had a tour manager. This time I thought: I'm going to listen to audiobooks and podcasts. He was lonely. As Barry Cryer said, "I'd do the shows for free, but it's the trip you're paying me for."
