The Taraba branch of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged state security agencies to arrest its former state chairman, Ibrahim El'Sudi, for alleged impersonation.

James Ahmadu, acting chairman of the party, made the call on Friday while addressing reporters in Jalingo.

Mr. Ahmadu said the alleged suspension and expulsion of some party members was illegal, saying Mr. El'Sudi ceased to be the APC's state chairman on February 10.

He called on the party's national leadership to call Mr. El'Sudi to order to avoid creating unnecessary confusion within the party in the state.

"We are responding to the alleged expulsion of David Kente and our elected Senator for Taraba South Senatorial District, David Jimkuta, by former State President Ibrahim El-Sudi.

“I and members of my state executive as well as APC members in Taraba State received the statement with gross shock and utmost disappointment,” he said .

He said that Mr. El`Sudi's impeachment had been duly communicated and recognized by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party

“He is therefore removed from his post as chairman of the party and has no legal status to act in that capacity,” he said.

He said that as the then vice president and a senior official in the state executive, he was unanimously and legally approved as the party's acting chairman

“Therefore, under the provisions of the APC constitution, El`Sudi has ceased to serve as president since February 10 and has no legal right to suspend or expel any member. of the party.

"We view his actions in this sad development as an act of desperation by a drowning man who is playing the script for his paymasters," he said.

"We also call on the national leadership of our great party to quickly call him to order before he creates confusion in the party."

He said that MM. Kente and Jimkuta remain APC members in Taraba.
