'Abbott Elementary' teachers are ready to 'get this party started' in Season 2 trailer

Lisa Ann Walter, Quinta Brunson, Chris Perfetti, Janelle James at Abbott Elementary.

Class is back for the second season of "Abbott Elementary"! The Emmy-nominated sitcom returns to our TV screens on September 21, and the cast can hardly wait. On September 13, the ABC series released a full trailer online for season two which shows our favorite teachers – Janine Teagues (Quinta Brunson), Ava Coleman (Janelle James), Gregory Eddie (Tyler James Williams), Melissa Schemmenti (Lisa Ann Walter), Barbara Howard (Sheryl Lee Ralph) and Jacob Hill (Chris Perfetti) - and caretaker back on the school grounds and ready to start a brand new year.

"Welcome morons," Ava says at the start of the trailer, as Janine later tries to "get this party started" with her fellow teachers.

Spring from the Brunson mind, "Abbott Elementary" examines the Philadelphia school system from the perspective of public school teachers. After the mockumentary-style series topped "Modern Family" in ABC's ratings in January and received rave reviews from critics, ABC renewed "Abbott Elementary" for a second season on May 14. March.

In elementary school fashion, the exciting Season 2 announcement came courtesy of Principal Ava. "The film crew I hired to show everything I did at our beautiful school think I'm a star," she wrote in an Instagram post. "I mean, are we surprised? No, we're not. That said, it's with great pleasure that I share that they'll be back for the 2022-2023 school year! That's right - the second season from Abbott Elementary is coming to a screen near you."

Ava de James concluded the letter by asking readers to visit DonorsChoose.org, a non-profit organization for teachers in need, to support "young mind-shapers" and obtain new school supplements...
