A photo of the Golden Gate Bridge emerging through the fog in San Francisco, an image of an "otherworldly" desert in Iran and an eye-catching cityscape of Tokyo are among the photographs that won the awards.

However, it was Chinese photographer Jinyi He who was named the overall winner thanks to a series of breathtaking photographs taken in Xinjiang, China. China, where he grew up.

Discussing the winning photos, competition curator David Evans said: "What stands out this year is the quality of the entries, both overall and for the best placed images. The Pano Awards have always been about the journey of each photographer who enters. We can travel the world through their eyes and that is the translation of every point of unique insight into these works of art that seems to get more amazing every year.
