Abigail Cowen in Fate: The Winx Saga Season 2 Trailer

If you've been craving more supernatural drama since 'Chilling Adventures of Sabrina' ended, Netflix's 'Fate: The Winx Saga' series is here to satisfy your binge-watching needs. The first season premiered on January 22, 2021 and it is filled with tons of drama, magic, and mystery. On February 18, 2021, Netflix confirmed that the series had been renewed for a second season, which will consist of eight episodes. The streamer released the official trailer on August 23, and it foreshadows a dramatic sequel to the intense conclusion of the first season.

The series is based on the anime series "Winx Club", which ran for eight seasons, so there's plenty of source material for the upcoming season. While the Netflix series has been criticized for its live-action adaptation, particularly the whitewashing of some of the main fairies, the intriguing plotline has certainly drawn audiences in.

"Diversity in front of and behind the camera is vital and indispensable throughout the industry and internationally."

Season 2 will give Netflix an opportunity to right some of the wrongs that fans have undone. In an interview with The Wrap, Cowen briefly addressed the whitewashing criticism, adding that she hopes Flora - an Earth fairy from the original cartoon who is Latina - will be featured. "Flora is actually not on our show," she explained, noting that Eliot Salt's character Terra was never meant to replace Flora. She added, "If we're lucky enough to get a second season, I think Flora would be brought in and I would definitely welcome her. I'm not part of the casting process, but I think if the show goes to a second season, I hope these concerns can be addressed, as I believe that diversity in front of and behind the camera is vital and necessary throughout the industry and internationally to have these conversations."< /p>

The first season follows Cowen's character, Bloom, as she grows into her fairy abilities and discovers the dark truth about her real biological parents. After teaming up with her classmates at the magical school of Alfea, she is able to come to terms with her past, but not without major drama. In the final episode, the ladies return to Alfea to find the school has been taken over by former headmistress Rosalind, and at first glance, chaos ensues. With so many details hanging in the balance, we can't wait to see how it all comes together in season two.
