David Gilliver's entry into this year's British Photography Awards was a summer vacation photo with a difference.
He won first prize in the Macro category, a branch of photography that takes extreme close-up shots of small objects, most often insects or flowers.
But instead David took a photo of the familiar blue face masks that have been worn everywhere during Covid and reimagined it as a swimming pool with tiny figurines enjoying holiday activities around her.
"The idea was to approach a serious subject with a playful character without trivializing it", explains the 43-year-old Scottish artist. p>
