Although Nigerians are suffering, they support Buhari's naira policy - Presidency

Although Nigerians are suffering from the Muhammadu Buhari administration's recent naira policy, many citizens still support the policy, an official said.

Garba Shehu, spokesperson for President Buhari, said so in a statement sent to PREMIUM TIMES.

"Regarding the cashless system that the CBN is determined to put in place, it is common knowledge that many citizens of the country who bear the brunt of the suffering surprisingly support the policy because they believe that the action would reduce corruption, fight terrorism, build an environment of honesty and strengthen the President's incorruptible leadership,” Mr. Shehu wrote.

The Federal Government and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) have defended the naira overhaul policy, describing it as a move towards a cashless system and an effort to combat crime and terrorism.

However, millions of Nigerians continue to suffer from this policy, with many unable to obtain cash for their day-to-day transactions.
