Tinubu, forerunner of the Southeast Presidency — Onoh

Spokesman for the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu Campaign Council in the Southeast Geopolitical Zone, Dr. Josef Onoh described the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as a trailblazer towards the realization of a Nigerian president of southeastern origin.< /p>

Onoh spoke on the backdrop of the South East Tinubu Town Hall meeting in Owerri, Imo State on Thursday, where the presidential candidate promised to resolve the most of the turmoil in the southeastern region, including a stint as President of Nigeria.

Onoh said Tinubu becoming Nigeria's next president would be a precursor to actualizing the region's long desire and aspiration to produce a Nigerian president, adding that he will also mediate other troubling issues of self-determination and insecurity in the southeast.

He also remarked that as Tinubu promised to Owerri, he will ensure the restoration of the industrialization of the southeast and the revitalization of the collapsed industries in the region, especially in Aba and restore economic competitiveness of the region as obtained in past periods.< /p>

According to the spokesperson for the regional campaign, Tinubu's statements to Owerri were a confirmation of the content of his manifesto which includes economic dynamism, infrastructure development, job creation and social justice which includes the soothing politically frayed nerves.

On the donation of 1 billion naira from the Southeast businessmen for the Asiwaju campaign, Onoh said it was a reciprocity from the region on the enabling environment that the southwest has created for business growth where the Igbo are major players in the financial sector.

He hailed Governors Hope Uzodinma of Imo State and Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State for their dedication to inducting a National Unity President and leading the Southeast beyond the ethnic feelings.

“Umahi has everything it takes to continue his quest to become president, but he put it down, accepted the outcome of the primaries and supported Aswaju not for his selfish benefit but rather as a sacrifice made for the actualization of a future that the southeast can hold the presidency, but that future is not 2023,” Onoh said.

According to him, "Asiwaju's engagement at Owerri was an indication of good things to come and all Igbo sages should understand that Tinubu is the John the Baptist, the harbinger of our Igbo dreams and that it is time for us to build on the dreams to take our position in the presidency supporting the forerunner who can help lay the foundation and in a few years we too can assume that exalted seat.

"Asiwaju is therefore the foundation on which we can now build to ensure a better future for our children so that our own children do not come tomorrow and start agitating to want the presidency, when we are charged with the responsibility of making it happen and all we need to do is drop our ego and create a foundation for it to happen."

He noted that the Eastern Region was founded to be a leader in economic progress beyond the shores of Nigeria and played a pivotal role through its political leadership before and after the Nigeria's independence, but declined during the military era.

He said the current democracy has presented the southeast with an opportunity to regain its lost glory through proper political alignment and a positive attitude from Nigeria's inclusive leadership, which he said Bola Tinubu represents.

“Nigeria's previous demand for restructuring notwithstanding, the Igbo must identify those who share the same values with them and persuade them to forge partnerships to resist the federal government's heavy-handed policies.

"The Latin phrase 'Amat victoria coram' means victory loves preparation. Voting for Aswaju in 2023 will be the wisest decision the southeast can ever make, as electing a southeast as future president of Nigeria cannot be achieved by thought and thought alone It is through action that we achieve results and enjoy success so it is imperative that we come together to secure Asiwaju's victory in 2023 and enthrone a Jean-Baptiste who will be our forerunner to the presidency,” Onoh advised.
