Tinubu: Onoh blames Babachir's comments, says ex-SGF is playing 'grass-cutting' politics

The campaign team of Asiwaju in the South East blamed the dismissed former Federation Secretary, Mr. Babachir Lawal of Adamawa State, for insinuating that the candidate Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, would not get votes from southeastern Nigeria.

The campaign team said Babachair couldn't have been further from the hallucination when he considered the southeast to be a no-go zone for Tinubua and asked the ex-SGF to return back and observe the huge support from the area to Tinubu. visits to only two zone states when the full campaign period has not begun.

Spokesman for Asiwaju's campaign in the South East, Dr Josef Onoh asked Lawal to feel free to move to the South East and campaign for his Labor Party candidate since he claimed that Asiwaju did not let him do the same.

“Campaigning in the Southeast is different from cutting the grass, it requires diligence, patience and a delicate weeding process that inexperienced laborers with a cutlass are not deployed to do, rather a experienced farmer manages it himself and removes the pests from the progressive crops. While the rallies in Imo and Ebonyi states prove Asiwaju's position of strength, so he opted to campaign alone in the area rather than to send representatives. I advise him to stick to cutting the grass while Asiwaju sticks to galvanizing and soliciting votes,” Onoh chided.

He noted that so much was wrong with Lawal, but was not limited to frustration and depression over his misguided expectations of the APC presidential candidate.

“His failed attempts to polarize the campaign by displaying religious sentiments failed and he attempted to play the ethical card with a view to deceiving Nigerians which resulted in Lawal being promptly fired by so many groups he thought belong, indicating that it was beached."

Affiliates of these Lawal, Onoh said, include the APC Northern Christian Association, the Middle Belt Forum and other associations that he says have spoken their minds but are quickly out to counter Lawal.

Onoh said that Lawal behaves like a Don Quixote whose fantasies can never be satisfied, hence his loss of control over his former members such as Yakubu Dogara and others.

For his interest, Onoh reminded Lawal that in the past week, Asiwaju has traveled through Delta State twice, Bauchi, Gombe, Ebonyi and Lagos states, working painstakingly to galvanize votes from all geopolitical areas of the country, and wondered how the former SGF came to the erroneous conclusion that Asiwaju was not on the ground in certain parts of the country.

He said Tinubu's campaign was devoid of religious or ethnic cards, hence its acceptability in all parts of the country. He accused Lawal of subjecting his statements to critical intellectualism other than "grass-cutting politics", noting that Tinubu will, however, equip Lawal with modern automated tools to pursue his political grass-cutting strategy. p>

“Lawal's frustration was caused by the level of standing ovation given to Asiwaju in Imo and Ebonyi states, not just the donation of 1 billion naira from southern businessmen -is in Tinubu's presidential campaign, which speaks to his acceptability in the southeastern region.< /p>

"Babchair's hint that Asiwaju will not get 25% of the vote in the northern states is absurd and reflects his mere perception which represents his personal understanding of politics. The northern governors are the ones who had defended the need for a president from the south in 2023 and history will always be kind to them and Babachir can't say he's more principled than those governors for their determination to keep power flowing south and went ahead to stand up and defend their position clearly shows the difference between the principled political class and the grass cutting one,” Lawal quipped.
