Tinubu should not rejoice yet, Nigerians will get their mandates back – Pastor Giwa

The Senior Pastor of Awaiting Christ's Second Coming Ministry, Adewale Giwa, has called on President-elect Bola Tinubu to stop gloating over his victory in the just-concluded elections.

Popular clergy who spoke to reporters in Akure, Ondo State on Sunday called on Tinubu to return the certificate issued by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, stressing that Nigerians would get their mandates.

Giwa's assertion comes amid protests from opposition parties, including the People's Democratic Party, PDP, and the Labor Party, LP, over allegations of fraud in the electoral process.

The electorate had, however, disapproved of the allegations leveled against them by the parties and other concerned Nigerians, vowing to be better in the gubernatorial and state assembly polls.

According to Giwa, there would be no Nigeria if the president-elect took over from President Muhammadu Buhari on May 29.

While describing Tinubu as the biblical Abimelech, the son of Gideon in the book of Judges chapter 9, Giwa said, "Tell him not to rejoice, the Nigerians will claim their mandate because Tinubu has imposed on them.

"I doubt that Mr. Bola Tinubu is the one who would transform Nigeria and lead the people to God. There will be serious ethnic and religious crises if this injustice continues.

"It will have painful repercussions if they don't listen and allow the will of the Nigerian people. You can't impose yourself on people, it's dangerous."
