Rio Ferdinand has described Manchester City's new summer signing as a great addition to the squad.
Manchester City signed Kovacic from Chelsea for £25m this summer.
The 29-year-old Croatian international has played a major role in Chelsea's recent success, but his performance has started to decline after Thomas Tuchel was sacked.
Speaking on his YouTube channel FIVE, the former Manchester United star said: "Man City, Kovacic is a great signing. Obviously they lost Gundogan, the captain, but I think Kovacic is also a sensible signing at this price.
"I think he was worth £30m and in today's market he's a huge deal, a great deal. He's full of experience, won the biggest trophies and a different player to what they have in that area. He can travel with the ball across the lines, so I think he's a good signing."
