Transfer: 'He's a good number 9' - Sheringham hands forward name to Man United to sign him

Former Manchester United striker Teddy Sheringham has given the Red Devils the striker name to sign this summer transfer window.

Man United are keen to sign a new striker this summer in a bid to bolster their attacking line ahead of next season.

The Red Devils have already signed midfielder Mason Mount from Chelsea and goalkeeper Andre Onana from Inter Milan.

However, Sheringham wants Man United to sign Victor Osimhen from Napoli, adding that the Nigerian international is a genuine No.9.

"Manchester United have always called on top strikers to help them fight for the title," Sheringham told Lord Ping.

"But it looks like United may have to look elsewhere for a striker this summer.

"I'm not sure about [Rasmus] Hojlund at Atalanta but I really like [Victor] Osimhen at Napoli - he seems to know where the goal is. He's a good number nine leading the line."

Osimhen was superb for Napoli last season, winning the Serie A top scorer award.
