Truck crushes underage pregnant woman to death in Ogun

A pregnant woman and a minor were crushed to death by a truck along the Abeokuta - Ibadan highway in Ogun State.

The accident involving a DAF truck registered BDJ 112 XF is believed to have been caused by brake failure, causing it to crash into a building where it killed the two occupants of the house.

State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) Public Relations Officer (PRO), Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the accident.

The TRACE spokesperson said the truck was traveling to Ibadan from Ewekoro when the driver lost control and crashed into the building.

Mr. Akinbiyi added that police had been deployed to the scene of the incident to prevent young people angered by the accident from causing chaos.

He added that "the corpses of the pregnant woman and the male minor were deposited in the morgue of Odeda General Hospital while the other victims of the accident were rescued at the hospital. Ajitola from Kila, for medical treatment.

"This (accident) is a sad and unfortunate incident against a backdrop of reported accidents that have occurred over the past three days across the state.

"The deceased victims of this unfortunate incident were the occupants of the building, who lived and resided there."
