Two children die in building collapse in Lagos

Two siblings were found dead after a building collapsed at No. 25 Ajao Street CWC, near Olainukan Bus Stand, Ikorodu.

Ibrahim Farinloye, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Territorial Office Coordinator, confirmed the incident to reporters on Saturday in Lagos.

Mr. Farinloye said the siblings, Rakib Atolagbe, 7, and Mujib Atolagbe, 9, "were trapped when a fence from the house next door fell on their building during the heavy downpour on Saturday".

He said the incident happened around 11:30 a.m.

"It is very unfortunate that no distress calls were properly routed to those whose responsibility it is to save lives at the right time.

"Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) officials are currently on the ground to assess the situation.

"May the Almighty forgive the deceased and console their parents," Mr. Farinloye said.
