US Open: Swiatek and Jabeur battle for first title at Flushing Meadows

The duo of Tunisian Ons Jabeur and Polish No. 1 Iga Swiatek have qualified for the women's singles final of the US Open at Flushing Meadows in New York.

Swiatek, who is in her second Grand Slam final in 2022, beat Belarusian sixth seed Aryna Sabalenka in straight sets - 3-6, 6-1 and 6-4 for her first ever Grand Slam final. US Open.

However, she lost that final to Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan in straight sets, 3-6, 6-2, and 6-2.

After their historic qualification, Jabeur said: "Iga [Swiatek] never loses the finals, so it's going to be very difficult.

"I know she struggled a bit with the balls here, but I don't see her struggling much, to be honest. She's playing great. It's going to be a tough game. I'm definitely going for my revenge. I love playing on this surface and I feel like I know exactly what to do against it."

Meanwhile, Jabeur's latest opponent, Swiatek, is the world's greatest female tennis player with astonishing records in 2022.

After winning the Italian and French Open with an unbeaten streak, she lost in the third round of Wimbledon to Alize Cornet for the first time in 37 matches.

But she made history by becoming the first Polish woman to reach such a level.

After her victory yesterday, Swiatek posted a motivational quote on her Twitter account as she focused on Saturday's final with other novices.

"Keep believing. Keep fighting. Keep improving. What a night, what a feeling. See you in the @usopen Finals!"

There will be a first US Women's Open winner on Saturday.
