War: they are tired; US says 75,000 Russian soldiers killed and wounded

The Joe Biden administration has said more than 75,000 Russian troops have been killed or injured in the ongoing war in Ukraine.

He told US lawmakers in a classified briefing on Wednesday.

“We have been informed that more than 75,000 Russians have been killed or injured, which is huge,” the official said, according to CNN.

"You have invested incredible sums in their ground forces, over 80% of their ground forces are bogged down and they are tired."

Rep. Michigan's Elissa Slotkin, a Democrat who sits on the House Armed Services Committee and recently visited Ukraine, told CNN. "But it's still the Russian army."

However, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov disputed the figure regarding a New York Times report.

"This is not a statement from the US administration," Peskov said in a call with reporters Thursday.

"This is a newspaper article. Nowadays, even the most reputable newspapers do not hesitate to distribute all kinds of fakes.

"It is unfortunately a practice that is becoming more and more common. That is how it should be treated."
