Why Atiku traveled to Europe – Help

People's Democratic Party presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar will travel Friday afternoon (today) to Europe on a trade mission.

Atiku media adviser Paul Ibe disclosed in a statement on Friday, debunking claims that the former vice president was traveling for health reasons.

He said that Atiku's overseas journey begins immediately after his Friday meeting in Lagos with the leadership of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria.

The statement read: "Today's trip follows a previous business trip 3 weeks ago.

“At the end of his trip to Europe, the former vice president will also take the opportunity to visit his family in Dubai.

"His trip is for work and family purposes and has nothing to do with medical examinations as insinuated in some quarters."

On Wednesday, the party's national chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, announced a fortnight's vacation in Europe, handing over the mantle of interim leadership to the national vice chairman of the North, Iliyasu Damagum.
