Why the plane of the Lagos-Anambra flight was changed – Air Peace

On Thursday, Nigerian carrier Air Peace denied media reports that its plane which was to operate the Lagos-Anambra flight on Wednesday (yesterday) encountered a faulty engine as it was about to take off.< /p>

There had been reports that the flight's engine failed three times at the takeoff point on Wednesday. It was also reported that the plane was delayed for two hours after the alleged engine fiasco.

But reacting to inquiries from PUNCH on Thursday, the airline's management criticized the information, adding that the claims were "sensational".

In a statement made available to our correspondent, the airline's corporate communications supervisor, Stanley Olisa, said the plane had only encountered a "minor technical problem".< /p>

According to him, our aircraft engine never stopped working; no "passenger escaped death", as claimed by the media.

The statement reads: "We have noticed some online postings claiming that the engine of our aircraft which was to operate the Lagos-Anambra flight on October 12, 2022 has 'stopped three times', with a sensationalist headline and damaging.

"To set the record straight, our aircraft engine did not stop running at any time; no 'passengers escaped death', as claimed by the media. The unit of auxiliary power, APU, attached to the plane had a slight technical problem and it was not at the take-off point, so we had to deploy another plane for the flight.

"The APU powers an aircraft on the ground. It is one of the Ground Services Equipment, GSE.

"It is therefore shocking to read some media reports saying that "Air Peace passengers escape death". We expect journalists to always check the facts and respect the principle of balance before publish."
