Nigerian Tobi Amusan set a world record twice on Monday morning to win the 100m hurdles in style at the World Championships.

His victory and another excellent performance from Ese Brume meant that after working all week with nothing tangible to show for their efforts, the Nigerian team ended their World Championships campaign in Oregon on a high. spectacular note; winning a gold and a silver on the final day of action.

In the semi-finals, Amusan clocked an extraordinary time of 12.12 seconds to erase the old world record of 12.20 seconds owned by Keni Harrison of the United States since 2016.

"I wanted to get out and go," Amusan said after the race. "I did what I had to do."

While amazing in itself, Amusan wasn't done yet as she broke the world record in her final race a few hours later; win in 12.06 seconds to become Nigeria's first ever world champion.

Jamaican Britany Anderson took silver in 12.23 seconds, while Olympic champion Jasmine Camacho-Quinn of Puerto Rico took bronze in 12.23.
