Zamfara APC concerned about overwhelming popularity of PDP, says Dauda Lawal

Zamfara State PDP gubernatorial candidate Dauda Lawal said the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state was nervous about the overwhelming support and popularity enjoyed by his party, especially with the wave of defections currently rocking the ruling APC in Zamfara.

Lawal, who told Gusau today, denounced the Zamfara state government's allegation that the PDP in the state sponsored thugs to disrupt the peace and sow chaos during the campaign and political rallies.

The PDP gubernatorial candidate who spoke through Dauda Lawal's media office described the allegation as "a lie devoid of any substance".

He said: "Our attention has been drawn to a shameless and irresponsible press statement issued by the Zamfara State Commissioner for Security and Home Affairs accusing the PDP of sponsoring thugs to destabilize political rallies in the state. We are not surprised as Zamfara's APC is well known for its willful misrepresentation and falsification of facts.

“The Zamfara government is confused and nervous over the overwhelming support and popularity enjoyed by the PDP, especially the winds of defection that are destroying the APC in the state.

“The Matawalle-led administration, having realized that it could not win the elections in Zamfara State, in a desperate move, resorted to regime warm-up, outright lies and innuendo .

"This strategy is being adopted by the ruling APC to prevent us from gaining more ground and advancing towards victory in the upcoming elections in the state.

“We want to categorically refute the baseless lies contained in the press release. Our campaign and rallies are peaceful and will continue within the framework of the law. enjoys Dauda Lawal through Zamfara, this is mainly due to his political focus and campaigning on issues that will improve people's lives, as the APC is desperate to smear his image, and that of the PDP.

“The good people of Zamfara State have not forgotten how the state government mobilized thugs and hoodlums who attacked our entourages, our campaign offices, as well as our campaign buses. These are facts with documented video and pictorial evidence that have been circulating all over mainstream and social media.

"With this, Dauda Lawal and the Zamfara PDP wish to appeal to the general public to disregard this latest campaign of slander by Zamfara's failed APC-led government which has failed to ensure good governance and resorted to cheap blackmail and slander against his main opposition.

"We urge our supporters to continue to uphold the law at all times despite the provocation and misdeeds of the APC."
