Dudley: Nursery scene after child death arrests

A crèche's Facebook page complained of a "serious lack of funding" the day before the death of a one-year-old boy in their care.

Six women have been arrested and released on bail after the tragic deaths on December 9 at Fairytales Day Nursery in Dudley, West Midlands.

The Mirror can reveal that just before 5 p.m. on December 8, a rant about rising staff salaries and rising costs for insurance, food, pensions, electricity and gas was launched on social networks.

The post, along with the nursery's entire social media presence and website, was taken offline today (January 6).

A criminal investigation has been opened following a visit by Ofsted after the boy's death.

The crèche has been closed by the Government Office of Education, Services and Skills Standards for Children, along with other related premises.

Ofsted said: "On 9 December 2022, the provider reported to us a serious incident involving a child in his care.

"On December 14, 2022, we received concerns that the supplier did not meet some of the protection and welfare requirements.
