Extraordinary succulent caramels
"Have you tried..." asked my Suffolk friend Naomi, her eyes shining, "B Chocolates Honey Salted Caramels?" No, I said, both excited to try something new and twice ashamed I'd never heard of them. "These are the best caramels I've ever tasted," Naomi said.
I was slightly curious, especially since people often tell me that something is tasted the best they have ever eaten. But something about Naomi's seriousness intrigued me. So I bought some from this little company - coffee caramels, £5 for 20, the mixed caramels, £5.75 for six (two honey and sea salt caramels, two pecan caramels and two chocolate caramels), and caramel and nougat bars, £5.75 for two.
The coffee caramels were good, but not my favorite – too much chocolate with caramel. But then I got to the mixed caramels and all I can say is… OMG. These are now the best caramels I have ever tasted. All three flavors were excellent, but the honey sea salt was insane (you can also buy a box of these, and I'm really tempted, £11 for £15). Everything was perfect - the chocolate to caramel ratio, plus the absolutely perfect chewy consistency, which is so hard to achieve.
Then I tasted the caramel bars and nougat with hazelnuts, which I can only describe as absolutely wonderful. Think of a very fancy topic bar. I can't believe I've never heard of them and I can't believe they're from my county and I can't believe how many of them I'll be ordering.
