Another Final Trailer For Spooky Finnish Creature Feature 'Hatching'

Hatching Trailer

Who wants to be disturbed? Picturehouse in the UK has revealed another official UK trailer for Finnish horror feature Hatching, from filmmaker Hanna Bergholm. This premiere premiered at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year and opened in US theaters in April. It's available to watch now on VOD in the US, only opening in the UK in September. Considering this creepy flick with gnarly practical effects work is definitely worth watching, we're releasing this latest trailer anyway. Tinja, 12, is desperate to please her mother, a woman obsessed with presenting the image of the perfect family. One night, Tinja finds a strange egg. She takes him home and feeds him. What hatches is incredible… There is certainly not a bird in there. With Siiri Solalinna, Sophia Heikkilä, Saija Lentonen and Jani Volanen. It is described as "subversive, heartbreaking and visionary, a body horror film that doubles as a fable of womanhood gone wrong". It's amazing how effective this trailer is without showing the monster.

In Hatching, 12-year-old gymnast Tinja desperately seeks to please her image-obsessed mother, whose popular blog "Lovely Everyday Life" portrays their family's idyllic existence as a perfection of neat suburb. One day, after finding an injured bird in the woods, Tinja brings her strange egg home, nests it in her bed, and feeds it until it hatches. The creature that emerges becomes her best friend and living nightmare, plunging Tinja beneath the flawless veneer into a twisted reality her mother refuses to see. Hatching, originally known as name of Pahanhautoja em> in Finnish, is directed by Finnish filmmaker Hanna Bergholm, who is making her directorial debut after many other short films before. The screenplay is written by Ilja Rautsi. This premiered at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. IFC has already released Hatching in US theaters + VOD on April 29, 2022. It opens in the UK from September 16 this fall. Afraid?
