Documentary trailer "Only in cinemas" featuring the Laemmle cinema chain

Only in theaters trailer

“They show movies that the AMC won't show.” We always need more theaters like this!! The Film Collaborative has unveiled an official trailer for a documentary about theaters titled Only in Theaters. No, it's not about the cinema closing during the pandemic, but it's part of the story. Only in Theaters is an intimate documentary film about the Laemmle Theatres, the beloved 84-year-old arthouse cinema chain in Los Angeles, as they face change seismic and downward pressure. Yet the family behind this multi-generational business - whose sole mission has been to support the art of filmmaking - is determined to see it survive. The doc features interviews with Ava DuVernay, James Ivory, Cameron Crowe, Mark Ulano, Leonard Maltin and others. After being screened at numerous festivals, it won't - surprise, surprise - hit theaters until November, if you want to see this one. Who doesn't like a good arthouse cinema? I love them.

Only in Theaters is a gripping documentary about cinema and more specifically the legendary Los Angeles Laemmle movie theater chain, owned and operated by the family, now primarily by Greg Laemmle, the company's heir and its CEO. Laemmle, LA's beloved art house chain, has an amazing legacy, tied to Hollywood's origins. This is the story of a 3rd generation family business and its determination to survive. Only in Theaters is directed by actor and filmmaker Raphael Sbarge, director of the documentary films LA Foodways and Lewis MacAdams: A Celebration of Life previously, as well as The Tricky Part feature as well. Produced by Thomas Cassetta, Matt Kubas, Freida Orange and Rick Pratt. The Collaborative will debut Raphael Sbarge's doc Only in Theaters in select U.S. theaters (only in theaters! ha!) starting November 18, 2022 later this fall.
