Parlor claims Arsenal summer signing gives Arteta edge over Tottenham – 'he's a winner'

Ray Parlor has argued that Arsenal signing Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City this summer gives them an advantage over rivals Tottenham.

Both north London clubs have been busy in the transfer market this summer. Spurs brought in Yves Bissouma, Richarlison, Ivan Perisic and Djed Spence.

Meanwhile, Arsenal's star signings so far are Jesus and Fabio Vieira. They are also ready to bring in Oleksandr Zinchenko.

Tottenham for the title, Leicester will fall: how the first and last teams to sign fare

Jesus has performed well for Man City in recent seasons. He was involved in 16 league goals last season as Pep Guardiola's side won the Premier League title.

Arsenal finished fifth in the table two points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur.

Parlor thinks Jesus is a 'winner' and he needs to 'bring that mentality' with him to Arsenal:

"If you look at Spurs, Son [Heung-min] and [Harry] Kane versus Nketiah - nothing against Eddie, he's still a young boy, he's still learning - and Lacazette. You're probably putting your money on the Spurs to cross the line,” Parlor told Sky Sports.

"But Jesus, he's a winner, he's been on winning teams, so he needs to bring that mentality to the team now.

"The unity in the team I've seen, I've been around some very successful teams in my career and I know exactly when you have a good team.

"I see they have a good squad, there is still a long way to go. There could still be a few more signings to come as well. From the outside now, it looks good."

Elsewhere, according to reports, the 'chances are increasing' that Youri Tielemans will stay at Leicester City this summer, even though Arsenal are 'admirers' of him.

The 25-year-old is out of contract in 2023 and is valued at £30m this summer. We know that Arsenal have shown interest in him.

Athletic have now revealed that Arsenal are admirers of Tielemans, but their interest "has not yet materialized into an offer".

'Chances are increasing' that Tielemans will stay at Leicester City until the end of his contract. They add that Brendan Rodgers will "have talks" with the player this week.
