Boris Johnson is already in the doghouse above the door to the party - but now he might get another punch on his dog.

The shamed ex-PM was spotted walking away from his £3.8million mansion in Oxfordshire, after resigning as an MP following the Committee's inquiry privileges.

But next to him was the dog Dilyn sitting on someone's lap in the front seat of his old Toyota Previa.

Rule 57 of the Highway Traffic Act, introduced last year, states: "When in a vehicle, ensure that dogs or other animals are properly restrained so that they cannot distract you during as you drive or injure yourself, or themselves, if you stop quickly.

"A seat belt harness, pet carrier, dog crate, or dog guard are ways to restrain pets in cars."

A spokesman for Mr. Johnson declined to comment.

Dilyn was unruly during Mr Johnson's time as Prime Minister - reportedly had 'expensive skirmishes' with antique furniture.

Mr. Johnson was often seen struggling to control his dog as he ran with it in the parks around Westminster, distracted by ducks and people.

In 2021, it was revealed that the Johnsons neutered Dilyn to curb her "romantic cravings" - often targeted at people's legs.
