Platini says he will not return to FFF to replace Graet

March 14 – Launched in 2022 by Swiss justice on charges of fraud which had pursued him for six years, Michel Platini (photo) repeated that he had no interest in returning to the head of the French Federation of football (FFF) following the departure of the disgraced Noel Le Graët.

"I made a statement in July when I was cleared of my affairs in Switzerland, I said that I would not return to the institutions of football. That's all, period!" the former UEFA chief reportedly said on Monday.

Asked what he would do if offered a role in the national federation he helped lead, Platini replied: "But no one will come looking for me... I gave enough, I was vice-president of the French Federation 30 years ago, I did everything, that's good, that's enough, that's good."

However, the three-time Ballon d'Or winner, now 67, hasn't totally slammed the door on football.

"My story may not be over, there may be other things to do in football. I have already said that if there is an opportunity, something that I would like to, I would, but not today."

Asked about the current crisis at the FFF, which led to the resignation of Le Graët, Platini replied: “The structures of French football are good… There is no crisis, it is the crisis of a president, not the crisis of French football."
