Proenza Schouler Spring 2023

Hi hotties! Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez kicked off fashion week with a steamy, sexy jolt of fun.

Transforming the Beaux Arts lobby at 49 Chambers with spectacular waterfall projections on all four walls, they have staged so stuffy, you could almost smell the humidity.

The models themselves shone, with their hair slicked back and bare midriff speckled with sweat, strutting around in ruffled dance skirts and fringed twist cropped tops, crochet bikini tops and sheer tube skirts, polka dot cutout tops and mega ruffled and mega fun flared pants that brought back the joy of s 'dress.

These pants, and they were so good, were the star attraction of the collection, and will be undoubtedly one of the avant-garde pieces of the spring 2023 season. Tailor-made, they were the basic elements of an elegant new summer suit, with a long sleeveless blazer adorned with golden buttons. Made of stretchy lace in acid colors, on thick shoes, it was a cool leisure wear with a retro charm.

The ruffled flare has become a waterfall like sleeve on sheath dresses and dresses. And for even more sleazy luxury, there were hand-knit fringed trousers in metallic gold with a barely-buttoned cardigan over a shimmering torso.

These parts were designed to move all night long, and there's a great story behind them too . The designers found a collective of artisans in Bolivia who worked on the knits for six months.

“It was about emotion, passion…” Hernandez said. "Energy, joy, sensuality," McCollough continued.

"Also identity, gender and cultural identity, exploring my story Latin, my personal narrative that we've never really explored," Hernandez said. "I'm Cuban, it's about my family and Latinos who need love. There is so much beauty, passion and love in this culture."

Why now? “My dad is getting older and I've been close to him lately. He tells a lot of stories back then,” Hernandez explained. “I think a lot of Latin men feel like they can't express their emotions. And in his old age he became very emotional and he writes poems about his life. It's beautiful, touching and inspiring."
