PSG consider stadium options

November 25 - Paris Saint-Germain reportedly turned down an offer from the board to buy the Parc des Princes stadium and are considering a move to Stade de France instead.

The 48,000 capacity venue has been PSG's home since 1974 but is in dire need of refurbishment, despite some work carried out in 2016. Until the stadium is properly reworked, the club will struggle maximize game day revenue.

The club currently generate around €100m per match day, but are keen to move to a bigger venue. The Parc des Princes could be expanded, with the club estimating the cost at 500 million euros, although it backed away from the asking price by Paris City Hall which CBS says is four times the club's valuation.

"Paris deserves a better stadium. My first option is that we don't move. But the city of Paris pushes us to move," PSG CEO Nasser Al-Khelaifi told Bloomberg.

The French government is reportedly looking for a buyer for the 80,000 capacity Stade de France. PSG is owned by the Qatari state through its Qatar Sports Investments and would have no problem finding the financing to acquire.

Al-Khelaifi said he had three stadium options but did not specify what the third option was.
