Putin 'pushes Russia to the brink of civil war' with rebels voting for revolution

Rebels opposed to Vladimir Putin's regime in Russia have accused the Kremlin leader of dragging his country to the brink of civil war by voting for a revolutionary law aiming to tear it down

Russian rebels have voted for a revolutionary law as opposition forces warn that Vladimir Putin has dragged the country to the brink of civil war.

Andrey Sidelnikov has a long history in Russian politics, having been one of the leaders of Boris Berezovsky's Liberal Party before helping to found the Union of Right Forces in 1999.

He is now a vocal member of the opposition to Vladimir Putin and has warned that the only way to remove the Kremlin leader is through violence.

Mr. Sidelnikov also said that Putin had "brought the country to the brink of disintegration and civil war".

He is now a member of the Executive Council of the Congress of People's Deputies (CPD), a political forum of anti-Putin politicians determined to overthrow the Russian leader's regime which met on the eve of the anniversary of the invasion of Ukraine.
