At least three men have had plastic surgery to look more like Vladimir Putin so they can act as his double, according to Ukraine's spy chief.

Major General Kyrylo Budanov also believes his findings could explain the tyrant's erratic behavior since the invasion began in February.

The Ukrainian government is so baffled by its actions that it now wonders if someone else is making the decisions in Moscow behind a Putin replacement.

He said the dictator's behavior "does not follow any logic" as he admitted that before the war Putin was "not an idiot".

But, he now wonders “if the real Putin still exists” despite there being no evidence to suggest the Russian president is dead.

Budanov - who is the Kremlin's public enemy number one - has claimed Ukrainian intelligence has occasionally spotted lookalikes at official functions, but claims it has become "usual practice" for a lookalike introduce yourself.
