Rick Owens' New Store, Casablanca Teams Up with Globe-Trotter, Seinfeld and Kith

RICK'S PLACE: Pink benches, jungle-gym light fixtures and a kids' line dubbed BabyGeo add playful touches at Rick Owens' first store in the Middle East.

The aftermarket industrial color shop is located in the Dubai Mall and is operated in partnership with London- Closet Case, a multi-brand menswear retailer, has also had a presence in the UAE for six years.

This brings the number of independent Rick Owens shops worldwide to 11. The others are in New York, Miami, Los Angeles, Paris, Milan, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Beijing, Xi'an and Shanghai.

"After spending time in Dubai several times, I am deeply happy to have found a home – a home where everyone is welcome,” Owens said in a statement.

Bobby Chehrazi, creative director at Closet Case, cited the growing demand for Owens' designs and decided to create the anchor outpost.

"We have worked with Rick Owens for years and know the brand well, its DNA, but also the consumer in the region,” Chehrazi said.

Based on Brewer Street and established 15 years ago, Closet Case stocks around 50 brands from across Europe and Asia, including Japan. It operates two locations in Dubai and one in Cardiff, according to its website. — SOCHA MILES
