Rishi Sunak 'has his fingerprints all over the place' £70 BILLION in wasteful spending, dumb deals and crony contracts, according to research based on official figures.

The analysis reveals an average waste of £23bn a year since 2019, most of which was spent when the Prime Minister was Chancellor.

A tracker of wasted public funds, prepared by campaign group Best For Britain, includes at least £20.5billion budgeted for the 'Test and Trace' service.

A Public Accounts Committee investigation later found 'no evidence' that it had any impact on reducing Covid infections.

It also includes £3billion spent filling civil service positions with agency workers and £120million on the 'Brexit Festival' flop, all while Sunak was Chancellor.

The analysis separates dodgy spending into 'scandalous spending', 'silly deals' and 'crony deals' - handed out to companies with links to Tory ministers, MPs or donors.

While Mr. Sunak would not necessarily have personally approved the spending himself, he ultimately held the purse strings for all government spending during his tenure as Chancellor.

The group's analysis found that Mr Sunak was chancellor when at least £68bn of identified spending took place, with additional billions spent over periods he was in charge for at least part of it time.

It lists the £4.3bn handed over to Covid support fraudsters who were written off by the Treasury last year.

In May, Mr Sunak was accused of using taxpayers' money to fix his image after the Treasury spent £1.3million over two years on polls and focus groups.
