Woman caught trying to steal presents from under tree Robert De Niro's Christmas tree in New York has been charged with burglary.
Police saw 30-year-old Shanice Aviles enter the basement of the actor's building at 02:45 (07:45 GMT) on Monday and later found signs of forced entry.
The 79-year-old actor came down in a dressing gown after hearing the uproar, ABC News reported.
A spokesperson for De Niro said the actor was fine and not made no comments.
He added that the alleged Upper East Side burglary took place at a house he was temporarily renting.
A New York City Police spokesperson said officers followed Ms. Aviles into the apartment, where they caught her in the living room as she allegedly attempted to depose presents from the trees.
