Russia has boasted that its frigate armed with 'unstoppable' hypersonic missiles passed the narrowest point of the English Channel after being spotted near the British coast

The Admiral Gorshkov ship was escorted by the Royal Navy as it sailed south through the North Sea.

It passed through the narrowest part of the English Channel, the Strait of Dover, according to the Moscow Defense Ministry.

Vladimir Putin personally took part in the farewell ceremony when the warship left the Arctic naval base in Severomorsk for a voyage that will also pass through the Mediterranean Sea and the Indian Ocean.

When he left, the Russian president boasted that the West couldn't match his "latest generation" hypersonic firepower.
