Russia fires 40-year-old cruise missiles at Ukraine as stocks are so depleted, Defense Ministry says.

The weapons of the 1980s, stripped of their nuclear warheads, are supposed to be full of ballast instead of explosives in an attempt to distract air defenses.

An update from Defense Ministry intelligence says desperate improvisation by Russian President Putin's struggling forces will bring little results.

Cited evidence includes photos of old AS-15 Kent air-launched cruise missiles apparently shot down.
