SAG-AFTRA Foundation President Courtney B. Vance updated members on Monday on the organization's emergency assistance program, her donation-funded charity.

Vance's update came the same day it was revealed that Dwayne Johnson had donated seven figures to the program. "Thank you @TheRock for your extraordinary generosity and historic donation to the SAG-AFTRA Foundation," the band said in a post on Twitter. "You're helping thousands of @sagaftra actors and families in dire need, and you're leading others to follow! We appreciate you!!!"

The program, available for members of SAG-AFTRA affected by the work stoppage and having an urgent need, also includes professional training and development "that we will continue to provide throughout the strike and beyond", said today in a "Fireide Chat" above).

Vance warned that the number of applicants "will inevitably be large" as the guild's strike against the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers enters its second week. “We are prioritizing members who are directly impacted by the work stoppage and unable to pay essentials like rent, food and utilities.

"We ask that members who are able to cover their basic short-term living expenses do not apply until they need emergency assistance."

Variety first reported Johnson's donation, which at this time is not reflected in the counter total on the SAG-AFTRA Foundation YouTube page. This tally currently stands at $16,310.
