Sassuolo chief reveals Scamacca had interest in PSG; Bednarek hints at West Ham snub

Sassuolo chief Giovanni Carnevali has revealed West Ham striker Gianluca Scamacca received an offer from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.

Scamacca joined the Hammers for over £30million in the recently closed transfer window.

He is yet to score in the Premier League in four games.

To be honest, the Italian striker has only started in the top flight once so far, so there's no point in looking too much into him.

Scamacca has scored two out of two goals in the Conference League and will probably start in this competition while Michail Antonio is favored by David Moyes in the league.

West Ham face Chelsea on Saturday and it's unclear if Scamacca will be fit after missing out on Wednesday's draw at home to Tottenham.

He was linked with several teams in the summer window, such as Arsenal and PSG, but he opted to join the Irons.

And Carnaveli revealed that PSG actually have an interest.

"Inter [Milan] asked us, but I'm talking about last season," the Sassuolo general manager told Tuttomercatoweb.

"During this market session, there were no requests from Italian clubs. Perhaps because they knew our financial requirements: we always said that he would go to a foreign team.

"In addition to West Ham, there was significant interest from Paris Saint-Germain. But we wanted to keep our word, and the boy is also convinced that on a professional level he can have the opportunity to grow even more. »

West Ham reportedly tried to sign Jan Bednarek on loan on deadline day, but the Polish centre-half joined Aston Villa from Southampton.

Bednarek hinted the rumors were true, telling The Independent he had the option "to choose between two Premier League teams".

"It was an emotional day. One minute I'm going to West Ham, another minute to Villa," the 26-year-old said.

"There have been many conversations with Southampton and all the managers.

"I ended up at Villa and I'm really happy with the decision. It was a good decision. It wasn't easy because, if you have another option, you have to make the decision like an adult This is real life.

"It was a difficult problem, but a good problem. I'm really happy to have these problems in my life, to have to choose between two Premier League teams."
