Scotland v New Zealand: Hosts lose first T20 international by 68 points

First Twenty20 international, The Grange: New Zeeland 225-5 (20 overs): Allen 101, Guptill 40S cotland 157-8 (20 overs): MacLeod 33, Greaves 31, Sodhi 4-28New Zealand won by 68 pointsScorecard

Hitting first, the Tourists went 225-5 on their 20 overs at The Grange, with flyhalf Finn Allen scoring a brilliant 101 from 56 balls.

In response, Scotland lost wickets at regular intervals and never seemed to come close to New Zealand's goal.

The match came two days after an independent review found Cricket Scotland to be institutionally racist.

The organization's entire board of directors resigned on Sunday, a day before the ex amen was released, with the results casting a shadow over The Grange events.

New Zealand openers went 85 in nine overs, with Allen and Martin Guptill enjoying the small limits and the fast outfield on offer in the Scottish capital.

When Allen finally fell to 18th, New Zealand were 175-3, and Scotland would have hoped to limit visitors to less than 200.

However, a huge hit from Daryl Mitchell and Jimmy Neesham, who scored 30 from just nine deliveries, earned New Zealand 50 runs from the last two and a half overs.

Calum Macleod and George Munsey got off to a good start in the chase, with a top position of 60, but from there Scotland lost five wickets for 28 runs.

This completely halted any domestic momentum and meant too much was being demanded of Greaves and the lower order.

Both teams will play again in the second game of the T20 on Friday, before a stand-alone one-day international match on Sunday.
