Death of Seymour Stein: music executive who signed Madonna, Talking Heads and more

Stein established the Sire label in 1966 and became a key figure in the punk, new wave and pop scenes.
He introduced British artists like The Smiths, Fleetwood Mac, Depeche Mode, Seal, The Cure and Madness to the United States.
" The music he brought to the world had a positive impact on the lives of so many people,” said his daughter Mandy.
One of the most successful talent scouts in the business, his other recruits included Ice-T, The Pretenders, KD Lang and Richard Hell & the Voidoids.
Stein entered in the music industry at the age of 13 in the 1950s, when he persuaded the Billboard newspaper to let him have a desk in his office.
