February 13 - Billionaire buyer Dozy Mmobuosi, proposed by Sheffield United, has judgments pending against him in the UK for £30,109 for non-payment of rent on a property in St Albans, Hertfordshire .

The debt was contracted between April and December 2020 despite repeated attempts to recover the money by the owner's agents and then the bailiffs once the court judgment was rendered in April 2021.

Mmobuosi has said in the past that he will pay the debt but has yet to deliver but apparently says he has enough personal wealth to secure a £90m deal for Sheffield United

The self-proclaimed Nigerian tech entrepreneur is one step closer to taking over Championship and is currently undergoing the tests of the EFL owner and manager.

It is understood that Mmobuosi is under review by the EFL and none of the required approvals for him to become a club owner have yet been granted.

Even so, Mmobuosi is confident, so confident that in an interview with CNN he said he would fund the deal on his own.

"It's my money. And I actually made a deposit," Mmobuosi revealed during the London interview.

"I would expect myself and the club to issue a joint statement, you know, which would contain details of the amount, but I made a deposit and that shows my serious to begin with," he said. .

Mmobuosi did not give details of the amount of the deposit he paid to the club.

In the meantime, his outstanding debt for rent in St Albans remains unpaid.

"If we suspend disbelief for now, Mr Mmobuosi may simply have forgotten the county court judgement," said St Albans property owner Paul Andrew.

"This seems very difficult to understand given that he was terribly upset by the impact on his family of these persistent attempts to resolve the county court judgment.

“At the very least, he needs to explain his incredible philanthropic principles in this context of what appears to have been lies and deceit…I concluded long ago that he never intended to settle this debt. »

In an email sent by Mmobuosi and seen by Insideworldfootball, dated September 21, 2021 - Subject: Complaint: GOOWD734: Complaint against Enforcer and Process - Mmobuosi said he had "never Receipt of Demand for Judgment. However, I agreed to make payment, and in fact instructed my office to make that payment, despite this claim being disputed."

This despite a clear judgment against him and his own citation of the claim number in his email.

In the email, Mmobuosi complained about the visit of an enforcement officer to collect the debt saying that: "For 2 weeks now I have been mentally harassed by this bailiff, threatening to visit my home and saying that my lawyers and I have been told lies about wire transfers, despite the receipts being sent. Important to note here that I do not control my bank in America. I await further updates from my bank on this, because I asked for updates."

The debt is still outstanding. Mmobuosi further complained in his email that he had received WhatsApp messages which he said were "threatening and therefore felt traumatised." My wife and children have not felt at peace since his visit. »

This is not the first time that Mmobousi has been sued for unpaid debts.

In April 2017, a criminal case was brought against his company Tingo Mobile Plc in Nigeria and two of its directors – Mmobuosi and Collins Chionuma.

The company and the two directors were accused of issuing a "missed check" to a diesel fuel supplier for $75,000. Police investigating the fraud discovered that the check had been dishonored because...
