Sheikh Jassim 'to make second offer' for Man Utd 'within 10 days' as Ratcliffe arrives at Old Trafford

Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani is preparing to make a second offer for Man Utd after sending a squad to Old Trafford on Thursday, according to reports.

It was announced in November that the owners of the Old Trafford giants, the Glazer family, were carrying out a strategic review and a sale was an option being considered.

Sheikh Jassim and INEOS founder Sir Jim Ratcliffe have made an offer to buy Man Utd, with both parties visiting the club this week.

Sheikh Jassim did not travel to Manchester on Thursday but sent a strong delegation, with a visit to Old Trafford followed by presentations and conversations in Carrington.

It is understood that Shahzad Shahbaz, chairman of Sheikh Jassim's Nine Two Foundation, was present along with personal adviser to Qatari banker Fady Bakhos.

Sam Powers and Yasir Shah of Bank of America were part of the delegation, along with Macfarlanes lawyers and commercial real estate experts.

Sheikh Jassim's team made it clear they were still committed to buying Man Utd in talks that lasted over ten hours.

And Sky Sports claims Sheikh Jassim will "make a second offer for Manchester United within 10 days" with a source in New York saying "there should be no doubt that that Sheikh Jassim wants to be the owner and goalkeeper of United'.

Analyzing Sheikh Jassim's interest in buying Man Utd, Sky Sports journalist Kaveh Solhekol added: "Sheikh Jassim made an offer before the soft deadline a year ago. a month. The Glazer family liked this offer enough to say they would move on to the second stage of the process.

"Sheikh Jassim's representatives have now visited the club's training ground to meet some of the senior staff and see what they would actually buy.

"What we're going to tell them is that after seeing the facilities, they'll have another 10 days to make another offer. I'm very confident that they'll make that second offer and a source in the States United told me "there should be no doubt that Sheikh Jassim wants to be the owner and goalkeeper of Manchester United".

"Over the past few weeks I have said that I don't think Sheikh Jassim is the kind of person who will overpay for the club. I have been told so.

"But today I feel like he will do what it takes to become the new owner of the club. He's not going to throw any money at it, but I feel like he really, really wants United.

"We don't know for sure that Sheikh Jassim's first offer was £4.5bn - we know the Glazers are looking for a figure of around £6bn and I would be surprised if Sheikh Jassim was willing to go that high.

"What happened today at United was that there was a very powerful delegation representing Sheikh Jassim at the club. They got on the train to Manchester from London this morning and the talks were very positive.

"They were looking under the hood for what they could buy and getting a better understanding before making a second bid. Sometimes that second bid might be lower after seeing what they could buy, but I don't think so. that it will."

Video on Friday showed Ratcliffe arriving at Old Trafford ahead of his round of talks with Man Utd as the INEOS founder entered the pitch around 9.30am.
