The Speaker of the House of Commons, Sir Lindsay Hoyle, said he lay awake at night fearing another phone call telling him that an MP had been murdered.

The veteran politician was a close friend of Tory MP Sir David Amess, 69, who was stabbed to death at a constituency meeting a year ago today.
