'Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse' Trailer: Miles Morales Returns

There's always another multiverse to explore in the world of Spider-Man. After the record-breaking live-action success “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” the Sony-Marvel property lands another episode with the animated “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse,” in theaters on June 2. June 2023.

The sequel to 2018's Oscar-winning 'Into the Spider-Verse' will focus on the romance between Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) and Gwen Stacy (Hailee Steinfeld) while continuing the action-adventure multiverse. The film finds Miles and Gwen as they team up with other Spider-People "to take on a villain more powerful than anything they've ever encountered." There will be over 240 new characters introduced.

Issa Rae and Oscar Isaac join the ensemble cast, with Jake Johnson also reprising his previous role as Peter B. Parker for the sequel. Jason Schwartzman plays new villain The Spot, inspired by an inkblot on canvas.

The team reached out to artists, such as Spider-Man 2099 creator Rick Leonardi, Kris Anka, Sanford Greene and Brian Stelfreeze, to come up with new character designs and help them translate their own unique art styles from the screen. "To have people like Rick Leonardi with his specific look come in to help us, and then develop a tool that can interpret lighting dynamics as if he were drawing and translate that into 3D, is just awesome."< /p>

The screenplay comes from Phil Lord, Christopher Miller and David Callaham.

Last year's "Spider-Man: No Way Home" was inspired by the success of "Into the Spider-Verse" and chose to place the three iterations of Spider-Man played by Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland, respectively, in the same film.
