Spotify Player Brings Back Physical Media

Digital music has made keeping all your tunes so much more convenient, but have we lost anything with going digital? [Jordi Parra] felt that something was missing from the digital music experience and designed a Spotify player with a touch interface.

Specific playlists are selected via small RFID tags that look like a cross between a MiniDisc and a vinyl record. Since this is a prototype, an Arduino reads the RFID tag, but needs a computer to read the Spotify playlist. Future iterations may include a built-in speaker and run libspotify to create a standalone device.

While there is still work to be done for a fully seamless experience, we love the industrial design details of this project. Simple, clean lines and a combination of wood and more modern materials make it a timeless piece of technology.
