“The spotlight should be on Rishi Sunak, the architect of Bounce Back Loans”

Winning apprentice Marnie Swindells was one of tens of thousands of people to benefit from the Bounce Back loan program.

As we revealed yesterday, her business may be under investigation amid allegations that she may not have been eligible for the money.

Ms Swindells insists she has done nothing wrong and the loan is paid off.

The spotlight is on her due to her appearance on the reality TV show, but it should be on then-Chancellor Rishi Sunak, the architect of the Bounce Back loans.

The guardian of taxpayers' money has set up a scheme open to large-scale fraud.

Some contestants used the money to fund their drug use, others took out multiple loans worth £200,000 for businesses with less than £5,000 in turnover.

The scheme was so poorly implemented it could end up costing the taxpayer £27billion in fraud or credit losses, MPs say.

This is an outrageous waste of money from a government that claims it cannot afford to raise teachers' salaries, fix our crumbling hospitals and increase benefits for the poorest.

Law & Disorder

Labour leader Keir Starmer yesterday detailed how the Tories have failed on law and order.

Knife and violent crimes are on the rise, there is a record backlog of court cases and only 5% of offenses result in a charge by police.

All of this is a stain on the Conservatives' record, but their worst failure by far is increasing levels of violence against women and girls.

Starmer pointed out that only 1.6% of reported rapes lead to someone being charged.

Once again it will take a Labor government to undo the damage done by 13 years of Tory rule.
